General Dentistry in Oakland, CA
For your benefit, Franklin Dental Care performs a wide range of dental services to give you the best and healthiest smile possible.
Dental Cleanings
We strongly recommend that patients come for a routine dental cleaning once every six months. Dental cleanings are important for maintaining good oral health. Our dental hygienists will brush and floss your teeth to remove plaque that your regular toothbrush cannot touch. Once the plaque and tartar have been removed, your teeth will be polished to perfection.
Dental Exams and X-Rays
Dental exams and x-rays, like dental cleanings, are recommended by the Academy of General Dentistry to be performed biannually. Routine dental exams can help reduce the financial costs and pains associated with treating more complicated dental problems later in life. We will assess your medical history, screen for signs of oral cancer, and check for signs of gum disease. X-rays are used to ensure that there are no underlying problems that cannot be visibly detected. X-rays are usually taken once a year, depending on your oral history.
Composite and Amalgam Fillings
Fillings can be used once a decayed portion of a tooth is removed. Although there are many different materials one can use for fillings, composite and amalgam fillings are the most common options for our patients. Composite fillings are the color of natural teeth but are not as durable as silver amalgam fillings. Each comes with its benefits and drawbacks, which our dental team will discuss in detail with you at your appointment.
Root Canal Therapy
A root canal treatment is done when there is extensive damage or infection in the tooth. The infected pulp is removed and cleaned before a crown or filling is placed on strengthening the tooth. The treatment uses local anesthesia to numb the area, so the procedure is pain-free. The recovery process is not long, and patients can return to their daily routine immediately.
Dental Extractions
Franklin Dental Care takes a conservative approach towards tooth extractions, performing them only when there is no other way to save the tooth. Extracted teeth must be replaced to avoid shifting and other dental complications.
